Bellfield Primary School is proud to champion OPAL Outdoor Play and Learning, a programme that transforms lunchtimes into rich, purposeful play experiences. Our former Bellfield Junior School achieved platinum OPAL status, recognising the exceptional quality of our play provision and the commitment of staff, pupils and families in creating an inspiring outdoor environment. Through OPAL, children enjoy varied, creative and active play every day, building confidence, resilience and social skills while having fun. This award reflects our belief that high‑quality play is central to wellbeing, learning and belonging across our school community.

OPAL brings joy to pupils at lunchtime and allows them to continue to develop essential social skills e.g. confidence, independence and resilience as they explore, create and collaborate with others. OPAL also encourages active, imaginative and social play, helping pupils build strong friendships and improve their wellbeing. It also supports problem‑solving, teamwork and communication skills, all of which contribute to positive learning behaviours in the classroom.
